As L’Hermione is about to reach the Eastern coast of the United States, New-York Historical Society interviews Professor of Art History Laura Auricchio on the role of  Marquis de Lafayette, emblematic figure of the American Revolution. This article explains the reasons why Lafayette chose to fight for the independence of the United States as well as the importance of L’Hermione, which remains today, a symbol of this period of American History.
